I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my mum, Clare, for the incredible care, compassion and dedication she showed my grandfather during the final stages of his life.
Caring for a loved one who is nearing the end of their life is one of the most difficult and emotionally demanding responsibilities anyone can undertake. Throughout this time, Mum demonstrated extraordinary strength, patience and selflessness. She was there every day, ensuring my grandfather was comfortable, respected and surrounded by love. She put his needs before her own, often sacrificing her own time, energy and wellbeing without complaint.
What stands out most is the dignity and kindness with which she cared for him. She provided not only practical support, but also emotional comfort, offering reassurance and companionship when he needed it most. Her unwavering presence gave both my grandfather and our family strength during an incredibly difficult period.
The love and care she showed will never be forgotten. It brought comfort to my grandfather in his final days and provided lasting memories of compassion and devotion for all who witnessed it.
My pledge is to always recognise and value the contribution she made, to support her as she has supported others, and to ensure she knows how deeply appreciated she is.
