Mum, looking back at the accident late last year, I really don't know how I would've gotten through any of it without you. Having surgery on my left arm and being stuck on crutches left me feeling pretty useless, but you just stepped in straight away.

You already spend all day pulling long overtime shifts for the NHS in eldercare, which I know is physically and mentally exhausting, especially when the pay doesn't come close to matching the work you do. But instead of going home to rest after a shift, you come straight over to my place. You bring food, you clean, you cook, and you handle all the stuff I physically can't do right now.

What blows me away is that you never complain. You never bring up how tired you are or how long your day was. You just show up with so much warmth, always putting me first even when you need rest yourself.

I want to say a proper thank you. Not just to my mum, but to the person who has basically been my fulltime carer when I needed it most. You spend your whole life looking after other people, both at work and at home. As my arm keeps healing and I get back on my feet, I promise I'm going to start taking care of you for a change. I'll make sure you actually sit down, rest, and let someone else do the cooking. Thank you for everything, Mum. I love you.
